This is Norway

Norway is a long, narrow country in Northern Europe, stretching from the Skagerrak strait in the south to the Arctic regions in the north. It shares borders with Sweden, Finland, and Russia. The country is known for its dramatic fjords, mountain ranges, and coastline of over 100,000 kilometres including islands. The capital is Oslo, and other major cities include Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, and Tromsø.

Norway has a population of approximately 5.5 million people. The country has two official written forms of Norwegian: Bokmål and Nynorsk. The Sámi people are the indigenous people of Norway, with their own languages, culture, and parliament (Sametinget). Norway also has five national minority groups: Kvens/Norwegian Finns, Jews, Forest Finns, Roma, and Romani/Tater.

Norwegian identity is shaped by nature, equality, and democratic values. The national day is 17 May (Grunnlovsdagen), celebrating the signing of the Norwegian Constitution in 1814. The flag is red with a blue cross outlined in white. The national anthem is ‘Ja, vi elsker dette landet’. Norway is a constitutional monarchy, with King Harald V as the current monarch.
